Sessions sired a well-timed winning double at Belmont on Wednesday just two weeks out from the Perth Magic Millions Sale.
Millstee landed the first-leg in the MacMahon Maiden (1200m) and Boab Boy was the second of five winners on a career-best day for apprentice Madi Derrick in the TABtouch Hcp (1200m).
Sessions (Lonhro) stands at Oakland Park and he’s been represented by a steady supply of winners at Ascot this season including Saloon Bar, Sensessional, Count The Sessions, Blazing Emerald and Mystic Jane.
He also sired Supersession to win last month’s Mount Barker Sprint (1300m) and Fitzpatrick Plate (1230m) at Albany for trainer Adam Durrant. The Great Southern feature double was worth $164,000 to a partnership managed by John Blackburn.
Millstee (Photo / Western Racepix) is a promising filly by Sessions and another talented 3yo from that crop is Durrant Racing’s Audio Boy who snatched victory from the jaws of defeat at Bunbury last Sunday to be named the latest TBWA Winner of the Week.
Trainer Justine Erkelens has given Millstee time to mature just like her dam Ellora May (Trade Fair) who won a Pinjarra 3yo maiden in 2016. She was never sighted first-up at Pinjarra last month but had excuses when stewards noted she was inconvenienced out of the barriers.
Positioned in the box-seat for Troy Turner after jumping smartly on Wednesday, she won a duel with Champeze (Playing God) to score by a half-length with the remainder of the field well in arrears.
Ellora May is now two for two at stud for owner-breeder Greg Hobbs. Her first foal Flash Max (Awesome Rock) completed a hat-trick at Belmont earlier this season and the mare foaled another Awesome Rock colt in August before being covered by Oakland Park sire Shooting To Win.
Sessions has seven yearlings entered for the Magic Millions through outside vendors including the colt from Katusha (Vital Equine). Catalogued as Lot 270, he’s being offered by Willow Dale Farm (as agent) for Oakland Park owners Neville and Susan Duncan.
