Yarradale Stud resident Gingerbread Man sired his 10th Stakes winner and his third LR Bolton Sprint (1200m) winner when Fluro Neuro gave bookmakers a $61 skinner at Belmont on Saturday.
Fluro Neuro (6g Gingerbread Man – First Game by Soldier’s Tale) joined Red Can Man (2020) and Phanta (2023) on the Bolton Sprint roll-call after a run of outs going back to a hat-trick in March 2025.
He followed that winning treble with spirited seconds to subsequent G1 Railway Stakes (13600m) winner Watch Me Rock (Awesome Rock) in the LR Grandstand Cup (1500m), LR Old Comrade Stakes (1600m) and Good Friday Stakes (1800m).
The widest margin in all three Ascot features was a neck.
Fast-forward to the last Saturday of the current season and Fluro Neuro revived that purple patch when he defied a wide run in transit before descending from back-field to nail Snowdome (Rommel) right on the line.
It improved his career stats to 8 wins in 34 starts for earnings over $590,000 for a Belhus Racing Syndicate. He was bred and sold by Yarradale for $75,000 at the 2021 Perth Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
“Big thanks to Grant and Alana (Williams),” winning jockey Chloe Azzopardi said. “They’ve presented him in awesome order. Last time over a mile he overdid it and that brought him undone. It was all about just keeping him happy today.
“I could have ridden for luck but decided to come out off the heels of Immortal Bliss and the rest was up to him. He really winds up and was strong at the end. All credit to the horse. It was a huge run.
“I’ve been riding work once or twice a week for Grant and Alana. It’s been refreshing and it was great to repay them in a Stakes race.”
Fluro Neuro (Pictured returning to scale with Chloe Azzopardi / Western Racepix) is a younger full-brother to Neurological who was cut down in his prime after winning the 2019 LR Farnley Stakes (1200m) at Belmont.
Their dam First Game (Soldier’s Tale) was bred by Yarradale in partnership with Swettenham Stud’s Adam Sangster and, apart from Neurological and Fluro Neuro, the Gingerbread Man – Soldier’s Tale cross has also generated Essential Spice who won at Listed level in the 2020 LR Beaufine Stakes.
