Long Leaf mares Girls Day Out and Mai Aloha were the first two out in the Westspeed Platinum Hcp (1200m) on Saturday and they were the first two home for the former Rangeview Park stallion.
Girls Day Out also turned full circle for Long Leaf with a three-quarter length first-up victory on Saturday. She had opened his winning account at stud in a Northam maiden in September 2024 for trainer Dan Morton and a Ladies Syndicate managed by his wife Carol.
Girls Day Out was bred by Ross Price and was offered and sold by Ruby Racing & Breeding (as agent) for $85,000 at the 2023 Perth Magic Millions.
A two-time winner at Ascot during her first prep this season, she has now earned $159,000 including Westspeed Bonuses of $53,000.
“She’s a good-sized, sound mare and is maturing nicely,” stable spokesman B J Ryan said as Brad Parnham brought her back to scale escorted by a dozen excited part-owners.
“She hasn’t always had it easy but she won a trial here a fortnight ago and brought that form back here on raceday.”
Girls Day Out (Photo / Western Racepix) is the penultimate foal from unraced mare Radiant Diva (Lonhro) and is her third winner following Chino La Diva (Maschino) and Wozzeck (War Chant).
Second-dam Bright Heroine (Bluebird) also foaled Our Joan Of Arc (Beautiful Crown) to win the G3 Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) at Flemington and LR Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) at Randwick in 2008 for trainer Clarry Conners and a Darby Racing Syndicate.
Long Leaf (Fastnet Rock) has relocated to Victoria and his ready-made replacement at Rangeview Stud is Group 1 racehorse and sire Manhattan Rain (Encosta De Lago) who will stand for a $6,600 (inc GST) fee at the Burekup nursery.
Manhattan Rain is currently second on the WA Sires Premiership for 2025-26 with progeny earnings of $5.68 million splitting Playing God ($7.11 million) and Maschino ($4.10 million).
