The Australian Stud Book reported Western Australia’s 38 registered stallions covered 1,091 mares in 2025. The ASB also reported WA foal crops have remained steady at around 8% of the entire Australian foal crop for the last five seasons.
The Australian foal crop of 2025 was 11,136. State by State, NSW led (47%) from Victoria (27%), Queensland (14%), WA (8%), Tasmania (2%) and South Australia (2%). Gold Front Thoroughbreds
Our first foal of the season arrived at a very respectable 10.30am on August 2. She’s a cracker and has some big shoes to fill as an Awesome Rock full sister to G2 WATC Derby winner Awesome John.
Their NZ-bred dam Jayquin Star (O’Reilly) won a Kyneton 3yo maiden at her second start before retiring to stud. Sire and dam were both trained by Leon Corstens. Jayquin Star had gone five seasons without a foal since delivering Hurstville Zagreb (Divine Prophet) who won at Warwick Farm and Canterbury.
Ridgeport Farm
First foal of the season at Waroona is a gorgeous Rommel filly born on August 2 at 7pm. She’s the first foal out of Rockstar Status (Awesome Rock) who won a half-dozen races up to a mile around the provincial and country circuits for Tiarnna Noske to Kevin Mahoney.
Rockstar Status is an older full-sister to G2 WATC Derby winner Awesome John and the Awesome Rock filly (pictured above) that was foaled on the same day.
Gervase Park
Great timing by Time And Truth (Oratorio) delivering the first foal for the season at 4am on August 1 for Chris and Andrea Gales. He’s a handsome Splintex colt and is a half-brother to Our Naughty Secret (I’m All The Talk) who won an Ascot 2yo nursery for Steve and Maureen Wolfe.
Time And Truth also has a 2yo filly and yearling filly by A Lot (USA). The 2yo was purchased by Trevor Andrews for $55,000 at the Perth Magic Millions in February.
Scenic Lodge
And we are away. A lovely Universal Ruler filly out of Adore Me (Choisir). The dam was a Pinjarra 3yo maiden winner for Adam Durrant and she hails from the prolific-winning family of Group 1 sprinter Barakey (Key Business).
The 2024 Universal Ruler – Adore Me filly was also the first foal of the season at Scenic Lodge and she was purchased by Belhus Racing Stables for $47,500 at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale in February.
