The Unreserved Dispersal of Forest View Farm has dominated the latest Magic Millions Digital Sale that closed on Wednesday.
Forest View Farm was instrumental in turnover topping $2 million which is a record for the platform in its short history. The WA-based vendor sold 26 lots with valuable mares Sminky Shorts (Lot 77) and Western Lady (Lot 28) topping the leaderboard.
Snitzel mare Sminky Shorts (pictured) is the dam of star sprinter Super Smink (Super One) and was purchased by Victorian-based Three Bridges Thoroughbreds for $365,000 after spirited competition that reached 64 bids.
“She has already produced a good one so let’s hope she does it again,” Three Bridges owner Toby Liston said. “She’s in-foal to Anamoe, a stallion we really like, and she will go to Yarraman Park this season to be covered by Hellbent.”
Super Smink was prepared by Dan Morton and was the first black-type winner by current Roselee Stud sire Super One (I Am Invincible) when she claimed the RL Magic Millions WA 2YO Classic (1200m) at Pinjarra in February 2023.
Feature wins followed in the G2 Karrakatta Plate and G3 WA Sires’ Produce Stakes and her latest black-type victory in the G3 Irwin Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville in April sent her earnings through $1.62 million for a syndicate managed by Carol Morton.
Super Smink was catalogued but later withdrawn from the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in May by the 20-member syndicate.
Belmont Bloodstock Agency had purchased the Playing God yearling filly from Sminky Shorts for $200,000 at the Perth Magic Millions in February.
Western Lady (Toronado) returned to the fold when Byerley Bloodstock’s Liam Peters had final say after making the 65th bid to $265,000. Bred by Peters Investments, she only got as far as a Geraldton maiden win in the cerise and white silks before changing hands for the first time last September.
Purchased by Forest View for $37,500 at an Inglis Digital Sale, her value sky-rocketed under the care of Brandon Fiore and Williams Racing winning at Belmont and Ascot (2) earlier this year.
Her dam Western Jewel (Jeune) won a G2 Perth Cup and has been represented by 8 individual winners led by G1 Railway Stakes winner Western Empire (Iffraaj). Her final foal Westbound (Toronado) won the LR Aquanita Stakes (2000m) at Belmont last month.
