Scenic Lodge sire Dash For Cash might be at the back-end of his stud career but he was back in business last week courtesy of an interstate double with Blazejowski (Flemington) and Cash Away (Pinjarra).
Blazejowski is a hard-knocking 7yo gelding with 10 wins to his credit and over $600,000 in prizemoney for trainer Greg Eurell. He was bred in Dash For Cash’s final crop at Swettenham Stud in Victoria before a transfer to Scenic Lodge.
Cash Away is just starting out on what promises to be a productive career for Serpentine trainer Misty Bazeley and a syndicate managed by her husband Aaron. At his only other start in September, the 3yo gelding was doing his best work at the finish of a Northam maiden when runner-up to Famous Jurney (Universal Ruler).
With Clint Johnston-Porter back aboard on Thursday, he gave the leaders a good start down the straight before easing off the heels of Rakiura (City Place) and finding room along the outside fence. The green grey was being ridden on one rein before balancing up to go clear for a one-length victory over Primative (Trade Fair).
Dash For Cash (Secret Savings) was a Group 1 winner of a VRC Australian Guineas and MRC Futurity Stakes for trainer Rick Hore-Lacy who passed away earlier this month. The latest maiden winner sent his carer stats to 405 individual winners of 1,242 races for over $29million in prizemoney.
Cash Away hails from an old Fairfields Stud family going to back to Medical Gem (Medical Man) who won a LR Challenge Quality Stakes for Dr John Rosenthal in 1983.
