Geisel Park owner Eddie Rigg and a syndicate of local breeders have acquired high-class sire Manhattan Rain to stand in Western Australia.

His service fee has been set at $8,800 (inc GST).

Manhattan Rain (Encosta de Lago) is a proven Danehill-free stallion and is a half-brother to Champion Australian Sire Redoute’s Choice.  Their dam Shantha’s Choice (Canny Lad) founded arguably the most commercial family in the Australian Stud Book.

Well-known Australia-wide as an outstanding individual, Manhattan Rain was a high class 2YO who won the Group 1 AJC Sires’ Produce Stakes at Randwick and placed in both the Golden Slipper and Champagne Stakes.  As a 3YO he was placed in the MVRC Cox Plate (2040m) and MRC Caulfield Guineas (1600m).

Manhattan Rain has proven a success at stud siring the Golden Slipper winning Champion Australian 2YO She Will Reign, the South African Group 1 winner Whisky Baron and a total of 32 stakes performers to date.

Manhattan Rain (pictured) retired to Arrowfield Stud in 2010 and relocated to Blue Gum Farm in 2017.  “He’s an absolute pleasure to work with in the breeding shed,” Blue Gum’s Philip Campbell said. “He’s very professional with a terrific libido and wonderful fertility.”

Manhattan Rain’s yearlings averaged $65,000 at the majors this year.  The 15 year-old stallion will stand the coming season alongside All American (Red Ransom) at Geisel Park in Myalup.
