Trainer Neville Parnham believes Snowdome can emulate his sire Rommel following an outstanding first-up victory at Ascot on Saturday.

Snowdome raced three-wide without cover from an outside draw in the Perth 3YO Classic (1000m) but was still too good for a crack field that included a half-dozen last-start winners.  He loomed up to front-runner Just Go (Safeguard) in the straight and let down for Brad Parnham to score by three-quarters of a length while stopping the clock at 57.26s.

They filled out a Mogumber Park-sired quinella ahead of third-placed Rumour Says (Deep Field).

Parnham prepared Rommel (Commands) to win the G2 WA Guineas (1600m) in 2014 and he’s setting Snowdome for this year’s edition on November 19.  “We will make a final decision after he gets out to 1400m in the Fairetha Stakes but I’m confident from the right draw he will run out 1600m.

“He is a very good horse and will keep improving off that win.  He’s been flying at the track and I was pretty confident he was good enough to beat them today.

Parnham also has the option of keeping him to a sprint journey in the LR Placid Ark Stakes (1200m) on November 12.  Like the WA Guineas a week later, it’s also worth $500,000.

Snowdome (3c Rommel – Snow Pixie by Snitzel) had won the G3 WA Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) with ease on Easter Saturday before going out for a winter spell.  He is raced by Parnham and his wife Carol, Bob Pearson, Mike Fagan and his breeder Santo Guagliardo.

The Rommel – Snitzel cross has an 80% winning strike-rate.

Snowdome was sold by Mogumber Park (as agent) for $180,000 at the 2021 Perth Magic Millions.  His older full-sister Pixie Chix won this year’s RL Magic Millions WA 3YO Trophy (1200m) at Pinjarra and his 2yo half-brother Snow Prince (Safeguard) is on the books with Sean & Jake Casey at Bullsbrook.

Guagliardo raced Rommel to Stakes wins in Perth and Melbourne and stands him with Colin Brown and Fiona Lacey at Mogumber Park for a $7,700 (inc GST) service fee.  He was Champion WA 2YO and First-season Sire in 2020-21 and stands alongside Safeguard who is available at $4,400 (inc GST).
